Anyang KGC, the defending champions of the 2022-23 professional basketball season, defeated the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters of the Philippines at the 42nd William Jones Cup International Basketball Tournament.
KGC won 87-77 in Game 5 of the tournament against Japan on Sunday at Heping Gymnasium in Taipei, Taiwan, to improve to 4-1.
Previously, KGC defeated the United Arab Emirates on Dec. 12 and Iran on Dec. 14, but suffered its first loss on Dec. 15 to UC Irvine, 82-87. However, the team bounced back with a win over a Japanese university team the day before.
National team member Park Ji-hoon led the way with 25 points (6 assists, 3 steals), while Duvon 사설토토 Maxwell and Jung Jun-won added 15 and 13 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, the RainOrShine Elasto Painters, who also represented the Philippines, cut the deficit to 1-5.
After finishing the first half with a comfortable 42-31 lead, KGC steadily maintained its lead, led by Park Ji-hoon, who scored 18 points in the third quarter alone.
With the victory in hand, KGC took the time to play a variety of players in the fourth quarter and cruised to victory.
